Dating crown jars, determining value of old canning jars
Companies experimented with numerous types of closures, most of which were very detailed, unusual, and impractical. Just acquired a large number of jars with glass lids, including some boxes of Viceroy Rubber Fruit Jar Rings, which appear to be fairly dating crown jars.
I recently lost my wife of 46 years. I would like to purchase these, where can i buy them? Excellent condition with only a tiny nick in top of jar.

I have a glass lid with a star of david on it. How the jar is shaped can make a difference in the value. Embossing Thousands of canning jars were embossed with the Mason patent date, November 30, I'm not expert about fruit jars.
Any ideas on the vintage and the value? It is an aqua coloured glass lid top for a Crown preserving jar. John Mason was a tinsmith in New York and perfected a machine that would cut threads into the lids, creating a jar with a reusable, screw-on lid.

A few years back I was given a bunch of Crown canning jars from a family member. I have a 1 quart Crown jar that is inperfect in shape and has air bubbles in the glass. Nice example of this collectible fruit jar. Can anyone help me????? My mother-in-law has found an old Crown Jar. One in particular has no date is blue in color and is out of shape like it was blown by hand. It has clearly defined ribs in the leaf. An embossed design that is unusual or unique will fetch more than the embossing on a jar.
My mom has datings crown jars from her mother and grandmother. Although other companies began creating the jars, Mason held the patent, and so the style of jar became known as a Mason jar. The jar shows wear consistent I am currently seeking out where I may find and purchase new seals and some Glass lids require replacements….
